Staying at the Serene Estate was a great experience. The owners of this beautiful guest house are fantastic people. Very warm welcome and excellent service. The architecture of the guest house is amazing. If you are planning a stay in Santa Lucia and want a top address, please put this guesthouse on the top of your list. You will not be disappointed

We already visited quite a lot of B&B's but never like this one. Amazing nice building with high quality, clean and spacious room, very nice garden, terrific breakfast, close to interesting wildlive parcs and on top a very friendly host, Olga. Certainly place to be when you plan to visit StLucia...

It is with great pleasure that I send this review. We have travelled wide, both local and abroad, and I haven’t seen a guest house as good as this one. The place was very well planned and is very clean and neat. What a pleasure to see a bathroom so clean and inviting. The service was excellent and the manager went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. Even the owners are very concerned and make sure everything is 100%. The breakfast is really something to experience. So beautifully prepared and each day something different and of a standard not seen anywhere.
Congratulations! You are doing our country pride.
'Like walking through a piece of art'

An amazing guesthouse, you would omly expect in the mondaine area of Capetown, we found in this seaforest environment of St Lucia. Thinking of safari's in the wetlands and watching whales. Fortunately a room was available. When we arrived at Hornbill Street, we found a beautifully designed building behind an entrance area with a covered parking. Reception was warm, breakfast very good and healthy and pool beautiful, but the whole architecture. My girlfriend said: 'it's like walking through a piece of art'. The room we got was quite spatious, maybe because of a curved wall with little openings.
Beautiful colours, beautiful light, because of the 'sun catchers' in the deck above the room that lit up the bath area. I recommend everyone who likes architecture and luxury to visit Serene Estate.

I have visited the little village of St Lucia many times and have stayed in almost every accommodation but did not expect this level of luxury and surprising modernity. Wonderful avant garde architecture that is situated flush up against the bush that surprisingly does not clash but is a lovely contrast. Rooms are probably the most spacious I have encountered and very modern and minimalist but comfortable. Good, fast wireless is part of your stay. I suppose that folks expecting or preferring all-enveloping cushions-all-over comfort will not be too happy here but I loved the space and clean lines. Breakfast was a treat on the upper deck with each table having a mini-buffet neatly set out. Scrumptious with beautifully prepared fruit and the usual alternatives, a great surprise was all the coffee shop options available from cappuccinos to espressos. Marvelous. I was just so surprised by this level of quality and service in St Lucia. A worthwhile addition to the long list of accommodations in the village. Great base to stay and enjoy the many and varied options available. Try it!

We had a better time here than we could have imagined. More than the wonderful hospitality of Olga and Hans, it was the house itself that made our stay in St Lucia special. The best way I could put it is, that there is something about living in very comfortable, well proportioned, top-quality spaces, free of the usual narrative of a stage-set-lodge, or cute-Victorian, or self-conscience-funky, that allow the mind and soul to relax completely. It was a perfect springboard for experiencing the magical Isimangoliso park.
Great bed and linens, bathroom, lighting. Wonderful pool.
We hope to visit Serene again one day. Thanks Olga and Hans.

Serene-estate luxury lodge in St Lucia South Africa is a sophisticated and design led guesthouse, that carries the signature touch of its friendly and engaging owners in every detail. The rooms are characterized by spatial openness, modern materials, a subdued colour scheme and ambient lighting - opening up to a garden patio with a view on the wildlife park. Breakfast is beautifully presented and again characterized by detail. This guest house is an asset for St Lucia.

After an amazing tour of the north of South Africa, we thought we had seen it all until we arrived at Serene. Hans and Olga's vision is not only thier dreams realised, but the dreams of every one of their guests. The architecture and artifacts send a clear and clean message into the 21st Century and the incongruity of watching the sculptural lines of the building interrupted by a troupe of monkeys strolling along the stainless steel balcony is an amuse guile to behold. The rooms speak of controlled and thoughtful good taste and design, opening onto lawns and a water feature that doubles as a pool. Beyond this an "invisible" fence discourages the hippos from invading your space. Olgas artistic breakfasts are a step into a 'Gourmet Foodies' magazine, the whole combines to give an atmosphere of complete tranquility. The nearby reserve was also a revalation, yielding more sightings than the Kruger... and infinately more approachable. Do not hesitate, this is an exercise in refinement and good taste, relax and luxuriate, thank you Olga and Hans.
